Introduction
Alessia D’Amico is assistant professor at Utrecht University School of Law, where she teaches courses on market technologies, digitalization and innovation in Europe. She previously lectured at Wageningen University & Research and worked as a legal researcher at the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority.
Alessia is interested in and involved with consumer interests. Her research and teaching focus on the intersection of consumer protection, EU competition law, and data regulation. Furthermore, she has a strong affiliation with digital markets, where consumer interests and rights become increasingly important. She holds a PhD and LLM in Comparative, European and International Law from the European University Institute, an LLM in Competition Law (Distinction) from King’s College London, and an LLB (First Class Honours) from Queen Mary University of London.
A multilingual scholar (Italian, German, English, Dutch and French), Alessia has received multiple awards, including the Annual Reviewer Award from the European Journal of Risk Regulation and scholarships from King’s College London and the DAAD. She has published widely in leading journals on competition, data and digital platform regulation.
